Reviews by Students:
Joseph is an articulate teacher
and was able to guide and encourage everyone in the class-no
matter at what starting level. In this class those levels
were quite diverse - from rank beginner to practicing professional
artists. It was exciting to see the improvement in everyone's
work. Joseph's enthusiasm for the technical and aesthetics
of drawing was contagious. We left the class each week with
renewed dedication to improve at our craft.

May I say with sincerity and enthusiasm
that Joseph Melancon is my teacher in watercolor. He loves
teaching and sharing. In fact, he loves life and it's a joy
to be associated with him. - Ann H.
He is such an enthusiastic teacher
that he makes us feel a new excitement about our own work.
- Emily S.
He is an excellent artist and a
gifted teacher. - Joan S.
I was asked to report on our ISEA
workshop 2006 (for the ISEA newsletter) by our outstanding
president, Mary Ann Beckwith. Since I am still on "cloud
nine" after such an invigorating experience, I am very
happy to do so.
It was such a pleasure to meet
Joseph Melancon, our instructor for the three--day ISEA sponsored
workshop, June 28 through 30 at the Arts and Culture Center
in the Peter White Library in Marquette, Northern Michigan.
Our teacher, Joseph Melancon, is
truly a treasure in the art world. Sixteen very experienced
artists filled our room; he had our undivided attention, absorbing
his innovating ideas and not missing one stroke of his awe-inspiring
demonstrations. He spoke to our souls and opened the doors
to our intuition.
Each day was a whole new experience
of ideas, new techniques and discoveries. Joseph is a first-rate
teacher, artist and juror. He not only created some masterpieces,
but he also cared deeply that we understood his new process
of painting and ideas by giving and sharing his time and knowledge
with each eager student. Joseph taught from his heart. We
will always remember his wonderful saying, "You always
have what you need!" Thank you Joseph-you were what we
needed. - Judi Coffey
You (Joseph) say things that I
hear no one else saying. It is good for my soul... -
